SMART PEOPLE: Physical Science?

Can someone please help me with this? I am TERRIBLE at Physical Science. Plus, my teacher is really old and reads straight from the booiokokok0o0k0kk so it’s really hard to uuunuderstandddddd.

1. Why is it improtant to have standards of measurements that are the same?

2. What are the SI prefixes for 0.001, 1,000, 0.1, and 0.01?

3. Make the following conversions- 100 cm to meters, 27 degrees celcius to Kelvin, 20 dg to milligrams, and 3 m to decimeters.

4. Explain why density is a derived unit.

PLEASE.

1: to compare with other measurements

2: 0.001 is “milli”

1000 is “kilo”

0.1 is “deci”

0.01 is “centi”

3: 100cm is 1 meter

27 degrees celcius is 300kelvin

20 dg is 0.2 milligrams

3 meters is 30 decimeters

4: Usually, because it is convenient to do so, most

people simply assume that water at STP (to borrow from chemists) has a

density of 1gm/cm^3. That is not to say that water’s density is some

kind of standard.
