Slope?????
Plot the cordinates using this equation—– y=2x-1
now i dont remember how you go about ploting that do you have to put a number in for y and x???
Any help would be appriciated!
Favorite Answer
x=0
y=2(0)-1
y=-1
(0,-1)
OR
y= 2
2=2(x)-1
3=2(x)
x=3/2
(3\2, 2)
Hope that helps
do, then you will realise that you only need to plot two points
and then join them up with a ruler. I`ll take values of x as 0 and
2.
When x=0,
y=2x-1, so
y=2*0-1,so
y=-1.
when x=2,
y=2x-1, so
y=2*2-1, so
y=4-1, so
y=3.
On 2cm graph paper, and using scales of 2 cm to 1 unit on
each axis, now plot the points {0,-1} and {2,3}. Join them up
using ruler and pencil, and extend the line in each direction.
There you have the graph of y=2x-1. You can only do it this
way if the equation of the graph can be written in the form
y=mx+/- b. If the equation includes x squared or a higher
power of x, or it includes something over x, then you have
to plot each individual value of x and y. Hope this helps,
Twiggy.
y = 2x – 1
let x = 1
y = 2(1) – 1 = 1
the point is (x, y) which is (1, 1). plot that on a coordinate system.
now do that for another value for x, like 2 (hint, hint). plot that point as well.
those 2 points are really all you need for a line. connect the dots.
m is the steepness of the slope like 1/2
y is the horizontal axis like 2
x is the vertical axis like 5
b is the difference between teh x and y axis
