Definition? Well, the cause is an occurence, and the effect is what happens because of that occurence (e.g. you don’t study for a test, so you get an F)

It’s a legal term that deals with the effect someone or something has on a situation. Example– A drunk driver is sitting at a red light, another driver fails to notice the red light and plows into the rear end of the drunk driver’s car. Clearly the drunk driver was in violation of the law but his intoxication had noting to do with the other driver rear ending him. It was not the cause and it had no effect, Example 2 You have a party, you want everyone to have jello-shots, you insist that everyone have a last shot for the road. One of you guests has an accident where a pedestrian suffer a fatal injury. You were not the driver and in fact you were not even there. Yet your providing the liquor and insisting on the last “One for the road” shot can be considered as part of the cause and thus the effect. People have been successfully prosecuted for just such a scenario.

Explain – cause and effect.

Cause and effect is showing the relationship between things. When a question asks explain ‘something’ – you would provide cause and effect.

Basically cause and effect could mean ‘why and how’.

So if a question asked explain why you failed your exam.

You provide cause and effect.

Cause/why: You didn’t study.

Effect: You failed.

It’s the relationship between things. Do some research on the internet. Might help a bit. Good luck!

-noting a relationship between actions or events such that one or more are the result of the other or others.

I think of cause and efffect as purpose. The purpose of ensuring domestic tranquility is to enable people to peacfully co-exist. The desired effect is domestic tranquility. The cause must mimick nature, becasue nature defines tranquility. “True law is right reason in agreement with nature.” Domestic tranquility is most ensured when all are in agreement with nature.
