When you see the g(6) that just means that you substitute the 6 in for x in the g(x) equation. This will give you -6^2, which is 36. When you times that by 1/2 you get 18. I don’t know why the f(x) equation is there unless you needed to find f(g(x)).
I hope this helps.

answer: 18.
[edit again]
i’m an idiot, summer’s getting to my brain.
the other answerer is right.
basically, since it says 1/2g(6), you’ll follow the g rule/function.
plug the 6 into the g function and you’ll get -6^2.
-6 x -6 = 36.
then, the problem asks you to half it, & half of it is 18.
