The lowest common denominator for 5/6 and 7/10 is 30. This is because if you keep multiplying the denominators of both fractions (6 and 10) then they would have to have equal answers. So lets say you double 6 and double 10. 12 and 20 do not equal. And lets say you triple 6 and double 10. 18 and 20 are still not equal. Lowest common denominator is the lowest numbers that both denominators can be multiplied to equal each other. So if you multiply 6 by 5 and 10 by 3. That would both equal 30.

well focus on the 2 denominators 6 and 10. Now, you have to do this kind of in your head real quick. Start with the bigger denominator and see when it can be equal to the smaller denominator. Like so: 10 can not be divided by 6 evenly, so you need to go to the next step-Multiply 10 by 2. That will give you 20. Now, can 20 be divided by 6 evenly? No. So take it to the next step… 10×3=30 Can 30 be divided by 6 evenly? Yes! Okay, that is the process that goes on in my head..trust me it will get faster as you learn your multiplication table.

first you get the prime factors of the denominator.

6 is 2X3

10 is 2X5

2 is common to both so you only need to multiply 2 once.

LCD would be 2x3x5=30.

Answer is 30.
