Simple Math Problem – HELP NEEDED ASAP!?

If you are doing a math problem in which all you know is the Acceleration, the Starting Speed, and the Time, how do you find Distance? I know this should be easy, but I can’t seem to come up w/ the right formula….

Here’s a sample problem:

A car can accelerate 10 m/s/s. If it is originally moving at a speed of 15 m/s, how far will it travel in the first 5 seconds of acceleration??

Please help, even though I know this should be easy…

the equation you want to use is this:

d = (v * t) + (1/2) * a * t^2

d = distance

v = initial velocity (or starting speed)

t = time

a = acceleration

so…

d = (15m/s) * (5s) + (1/2) * (10m/s/s) * (5s)^2

d = 200 (meters)
