No, homework should not be abolished.

Could you imagine if it were? No Homework help category here on Yahoo Answers, which few students with History questions ever use anyway, and even more students asking what all those books in the libraries are for!?!

Ha ha, no.

Students simply can’t learn enough in the time spent in a classroom in order to be successful throughout the rest of their academic careers.

Homework teaches students to be responsible and how to manage time effectively. It also gives them something to be proud of – they are constantly challenged and can rise to the task.

It also allows students who put in the time and effort – that is, those who actually care about an education – to be distinguished from their peers who only want to have a good time in school.

A better question is how the grading system can be changed in order to more effectively reflect a student’s level of learning and motivation. Grades are mostly subjective and do not necessarily show how prepared a student is for further academic challenges.

No. Homework is there for a reason, and that is that students use what they have learned inside the classrom and practice it. Homework, even if it’s boring, helps to get better in any certain subject.
