what’s scientific notation? please explain it to me. how do i change 80,000 to scientific notation?

8 X 10 to the 4th power.
so
8 x 10 4 ( pretend the four is little and at the top, it is the exponent)

k so this is really easy and i actually know this so let me explain. well first of all your number would be 8 x 10^4 so that is 8 times 10 to the 4th power.
what you do is you count how many 0’s there are. so say there are 5 0’s. then you would take that 5 and just put a 10 in front of it. so if i had 300,000 that is 5 0’s so the scientific notation for that would be 3 x 10^5

Try it like this(8*10 to the 4th power aka 8*10,000)
*=times.
