Wow, that is an intense project for a six year old! I think I

would first take my six year old to the barber shop and talk about what a barber needs to be a barber.

Then I would go to the craft store, and buy the bright colored modeling clay (used for making beads) and work together on making the “fixtures” for the barber shop — just the sink and workstation and chair and perhaps a barber pole.

Then I would make a cardboard box, and make it to scale (whatever your scale is, I assume that specified one) to place the objects in. You may want to make a window for looking in! Glue wrapping paper inside the box for wall paper. Maybe a different color or a scrap of fabric for the floor. Place the furniture inside. Glue a purse sized mirror to the wall above your work station. Sprinkle some hair scraps on the floor under the chair.

Tiny things, like combs, brushes and scissors I would find pics of on the internet and then reduce the size down and print them out. Then (carefully) cut them out and place them on the work station or in the hands of a small doll if you have one.

Do they want the outside to look like a barber shop too? Then you just need a barber pole from clay, a window and door and make the outside look like bricks (crayons, markers, or something you print off the computer and glue.

I think that would work. But still, pretty intense project for a six year old!
