Most synthetics are made from petroleum or other oils such as soy (yes – there IS soybean plastic!). The only “raw materials” you can use to make silk are silkworm caterpillars, and LOTS of mulberry leaves 😉

I’m assuming this is homework. So I will answer, but not answer! It depends on the fiber content of the chiffon. Naturally, silk chiffon’s raw material would be silk. Polyester chiffon would not use silk as it’s raw material it would use polyester resin. Chiffon is sourced from many fibers including silk, polyester, nylon, and rayon -among others. Silk comes from the cocoon of the silk worm. The silk cocoon are the raw material that makes up silk fibers. the fibers are spun into threads, the threads are woven into a fabric such as chiffon. Polyester begins it’s life as a crude oil derivative, the oil is processed into chemicals, the chemical are turned into polymer resins, the resins are extruded into fiber, fiber into threads, threads into fabric. Many different raw materials go into fabrics. You need to go to wikipedia and research this subject properly and in more detail.
