The Dude Abides…..

raunchy Television, fox channel and the 1980s?

am writing a report on television and how television evolved or (demoralized in the past 2 or 3 decades)

and i was wondering if anyone knew of a website that talks about older television line up, or if anyone remembers the fox line up or raunchy shows at the time…

when i was little like 5-7 i remember that Fox channel was raunchy at the time because they had shows like married with children and the simpsons.. and i would always remember getting yelled at by my mom saying that i wasnt old enough to watch those programs. so that channel always stuck with me.

my observation is that broadcast television didnt get rauchy towards the 80s because they were competeing with cable tv that had more of a wide variety of entertainment.

this is also in the general tv area to, just incase you want to comment twice

When the Fox channel started, it was essentially a weakling competing against the big 3 networks, NBC, ABS, and CBS.

It did not have original programming every night of the week, much less all day long.

since it couldn’t adbertise on other networks, part of its marketing strategy was to put on provacative programs that caused people to talk. It also meant that they took some risks putting on shows that were different, or that would look/be different from the stuff you saw on the big networks – that meant things to attract teenagers and things that pushed the envelope.
