pythagorean theorem????
use the pythagorean therom to solve for x: the legs are 5 and 17 and the hypotenuse is x.
My answer was 17.72004515 but it doesnt look right…. is it?
Favorite Answer
5^2 + 17^2 = 314
sqrt(314) = 17.72004515
Good job!
So the Hypotenuese, being C would equal
the square root of 5 squared + 17 squared
which equals 17.72004515
So your right
Note : Pythagorean Therom only works on right triangles. not Isosoles or Scalene
B ” (17 x 17) = 314
C ” = 339
Square root of 339 = 17.720045
a^2+b^2=c^
where:
a and b is the sides
C is the hypotenuse
5^2+17^2=x^2
25+289=x^2
get the squareroot of both sides, which will leave x
so x is the squareroot of 314
5^2 + 17^2 = X^2
square them and add them, then get the square root to get X
so,
5 ^ 2 + 17^ 2 = X ^ 2
25 + 289 = X^2
X = square root of 314
X = 17.7200451
So the answer is your answer is right.
Its the square root of 25+ 17^2
5×5 + 17×17 = x squared
25 + 289 = x squared
= 314
square root of 314 = 17.2
5^2 + 17^2 = x^2
x = sqrt[314] = 17.72 …
