1)A driveway 30 feet long and 18 feet wide is to be paved with blacktop 4 inches thick. How much will the blacktop cost if it is sold at the price of $175 per cubic yard?
2)Find the surface area of a regular pyramid with a hexagonal base. The base edge is 12 feet, the height of the pyramid is 10 feet.

OK.1) Area of driveway= LxW. 30 ft = 10yds. 18ft = 6yds.
10x 6 = 60. So, area of driveway = 60 sq. yds.Thickness of blacktop = 4″ =1/9 yd. to find cubic yd, 60×1/9 = 60/9 = 6.66cubic yds.To find cost, $175 x 6.66 = $1165.50.
2) Pyramid has 6 sides, each a triangle. Area of triangle = 1/2 base x ht. So: 1/2 base = 6ft. Ht =10ft. Area of 1 side = 60sq ft Total surface area =60 sq ft x 6 = 360 sq ft. Hope this helps.
