I really would like to help you, but I feel there is a problem with many of your topic lines. Some of them are just not true. All heroes do not die young. All great men are not afraid of wives. Some lines don’t make sense to me – Old should be sold…..what is that about? Justice is a toy in the hands of tricksters…please!

Is this topic a debate for or against the lines you listed? Did a teacher give these lines and tell you to pick one and write on it?

It would be easier for you to write and speak about something you understood and had opinions about.

The first one is actually a Bible verse from the Book of Proverbs. It means that having a respectful dread of what happens when a person does wrong (as far as God is concerned) leads to making wise choices. If you agree with that statement you can tell how you learned to believe it, give examples of messing up and its consequences or of doing right and being rewarded or feeling good about doing the right thing.

Think about telling a little more about your assignment for the speech so that people who read and answer you can be more helpful.

One last thought, if you can choose your own topic for a speech think of something you really believe in and then defend it. Or choose something you don’t agree with at all and defend your reasons why not.

Good luck and hang in there. 🙂

Is this a speech for a particular subject, or is the purpose just to persuade?

I think they are all terrible, but I prefer 5 … that modern battles are fought on an economic front. In other words, that the economy is what drives us, rather than our military power (although the two are synonymous these days). The country with the strongest economy is the most powerful. On a more local note, life is all about working to earn to live (without money you cannot survive), and in capitalist nations, it is wealth which determines your status & success in society (therefore your power)
