basically you know what a+b+c is but want to know what b is on its own. So you subtract a and c:

P=a+b+c (-a)

P-a=b+c (-c)

P-a-c=b

so the equation for b is: b=p-a-c

hope this helps!

Make b = something…. Move b and c to join P…. Good luck.
