Florence was Antonio’s friend in his Catholicism classes. However, Florence was an atheist. The only reason he attended Catholicism classes was because his friends are there. Florence logically questioned the existence of God which troubled Antonio. He wanted Florence to believe in God, but did not know the answers. Because Florence logically denied the existence of religion, Antonio questioned many ideas: good, evil, and his faith. Finally, Antonio and Cico decided to reveal the secret of the Golden Carp to Florence so that he would have something to believe in. While they were looking for Florence, he suffered a terrible fate: he drowned in the lake before they were able to show him the Golden Carp.

Seeing another person die in front of his eyes, especially his friend, Antonio was traumatized by the incident. Therefore, he decided to join his uncles to work in the fields.

During the trip to El Puerto, Gabriel explained to Antonio that going away might be a good thing for him in that he will be able to become independent. Antonio’s uncles would be a good influence on him. They could guide Antonio into the state of manhood. Gabriel admitted that he has given up on his dream of wanting Antonio to become a Márez. Antonio replied that he wanted to be both, a Márez and a Luna. Gabriel explained to Antonio that every man is a part of his past, but he needed to make something new. Antonio wondered out loud that if he could make a new religion. Gabriel replied, “Why, I suppose so.”

Rather than retype this, I’ll tell you what they are and you can type the paper with corrections: 2nd sentence, cross out “However.” The next sentence sounds crossing out “The only reason.” Begin with “He attends.” A coma goes after “questions”, “logically,” and “God.” A semicolon goes before “But he does not know the answers” and “he” should REPLACE “but.” Cross out “Due to the fact that” and begin the sentence with “Florence.” Omit “logically” in the sentence, as well. Omit “Therefore makes.” Substitute it with “and this.” Cross out “many” and use “the” in its place. No colon after “ideas.” Write “of” after “ideas.”Mark off “Finally.” Write: “In order that he will have something to believe in” and add the Antonio portion (you’ve simply inverted this sentence to make it read better, see?) The next sentence should have a comma after “Florence.”A colon (:) goes after “him.”Omit “and especially since it was” in the next sentence. Just put a coma after “eyes”. The next sentence needs “to” before “his mother’s”. The next sentence needs a colon after “him,” and delete “so”. Captialize “He” after the colon. Omit “the state of” in the next sentence. The sentence that next begins with “Antonio replied”: Mark out “replied that he,” and put a coma after “both.” The next sentence needs a coma after “past,” and “but” should be substituted for “That.” The next sentence requires crossing out “Therefore, adding an “s” to wonder, and crossing out the next “that” in the sentence.
