Well in 1998 there was those damned Furbies. Everyone had to have a Furby. Others I can think of include:

Slap Bracelets, Pokemon, Lisa Frank, Super Soakers, Beepers, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?,Bill Nye the Science Guy , Bananas in Pyjamas, Nickelodeon Gak, Animaniacs, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Power Rangers, The Magic School Bus ,Tommy Hilfiger , Playstation, NES, Ebay, Sailor Moon,Skechers , Beanie babies, Animorphs ,Oregon Trail, Harry Potter, Austin Powers, Digimon, The Hamster Dance, Britney Spears, Who Wants to be a Millionare?, Doodle Bear

They’re mostly kid things, but thats because I was a kid then.

Easy!

Furby was huge. Tamagachi (which is made a small comeback)… that was a big one. Tickle Me Elmo and the Rosie TV-show (which made Elmo so huge!), when Rosie O’Donnell was as big as Oprah. Oprah, by the way… Beanie Babies were collected and some sold for $100s of dollars (it was insane), Napster was big for downloading music (when that started) and the industry crippled their business, “soccer moms” became a known term for mothers that drive their kids everywhere… their SUVs became commonplace. Moms and teens began getting tattoos (shockingly) and piercings, more than ever before, Bill Clinton was a fad of the 90s for a southern politician that left people thinking he’d actually done something… and THE fad was the Internet — which brought about today, made the stock market SOAR and made so many people money that they believe Clinton/Gore had anything to do with it… and that keeps him from being judged as one of the worst presidents in USA history.

Let’s see? …using radar detectors on roads, to avoid police watching speeding (no one bothers anymore), “Britney vs. Christina” for the Top of the Charts etc. (both scored big in the late-90’s)…

Vanilla Ice was big. I think Milli Vanilli was, too. And what about slap bracelets and jelly shoes? We used to play pencil break and thump knuckle in school and get in trouble everyday. The Cosby Show, Friends, Seinfeld, Double Dare (maybe 80s), In living Color. OK City Bombing, Kurt Cobain dying, Chris Farley’s death, Wrigley Field got lights in the stadium, computer usage, hackey sacks, CD players, Backpack purses, Swatch Watches (80s?), Olympics bombing, George Bush throwing up on TV, boom boxes, Reebok Pumps (shoes). I dunno…there’s so much more, but I can’t think of anything else without a lot of effort.

net shirts

big bows

penny loppers

Madonna’s fashion during the 90’s

Duran Duran

Spandau Ballet

Boy George

Flannel shirts were in, and for some reason wearing overalls with one strap undone was in too. virtual pets were a cool thing for a while. As were yo-yo’s. Jnco Jeans came into fashion, the really big ones with the huge leg cuffs.
