Johnson’s War on Poverty was successful in raising the income of the poorest Americans. However, It was not popular with many people. Who do you think might have opposed it, and what interests would they represent?

The rich and the industries would have opossed it. By raising wages that would put more of a burden on the industries, which in turn would effect the pocket of the rich.

Tax payers opposed the program. It led to people becoming addicted to welfare. It led to the high illegitimacy rate we have now. People who worked for a living were subsidizing those who wouldn’t. Food stamp recipients would sell the stamps for cash. It is one of the greatest errors ever.
