Tell us more about how you think such a big job could be tough:

1. Being responsibile for the well-being, even the very lives, of so many people.

2. Being surrounded by advisors but not knowing who you can and cannot trust.

3. Trying your best, but never knowing for sure if you are making the right decisions, or how history will look back on your decisions.

4. Knowing the whole world is watching you, and many are actively looking for reasons to criticize everything you do.

5. Sacrificing privacy and family life to be a public servant.

6. It is a very high-stress job.

7. It requires that you have superhuman character. You aren’t supposed to show any flaws, yet all of us are human so we have flaws and we make mistakes.

8. You place your very life in danger because there are some crazy people out there who would like to kill a president.

I think that being president should not be about how it changes you (as president), but rather how you can change things for the betterment of the country. Remember that John F. Kennedy, our 35th President, said: “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

If you are also supposed to talk about the advantages of being president, you could mention all the following opportunities:

1. Make decisions about health care, taxes, jobs, immigration, and more that will improve our country.

2. Make the world a safer place.

3. Build peace with other countries.

4. Lead the country’s armed forces.

5. Be an example of good character, demonstrating courage, honesty, kindness, and respect for others

6. Help the poor and needy people in our country and around the world.

7. Promote and protect human rights and civil rights in the US and around the globe.

8. Travel around the world seeing many different countries and cultures in your own private jet (okay, this one’s a bit selfish)

Hope this helps! Remember to put everything in your own words! Best of luck to you!

He and his family must have security 24 hrs. a day. Imagine how the Bush twins feel when on a date and the Secret Service is right there, too.

Where ever he goes, there are the photographers. Hillary Clinton was not happy when one snapped a picture of her in a bathing suit. President Ford was caught trying to eat a tamale with the husk on it. Everyone has seen the famous picture of Pres. Nixon walking the beach, trying very hard to look to look like a serious leader with his faithful dog at his side. The dog, as it turned out, couldn’t stand him.

The President, although he might have good intent, could make a decision that could affect generations to come. President Kennedy had this nation in a very tense situation during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The President is on duty, 24/7.

I think one of the biggest disadvantages of being President is constantly being criticized and living your personal life in public. It’s really grea when things are going your way, but not so great when you are being criticized. We have to think…how do we feel when one person says something not nice to us or criticizes us. Just imagine that at a level of a couple of hundred thousand people and a daily group of reporters shouting the criticism at you day after day.

How about one line?

To be put on a pedestal is a wonderful thing…all the way up until you realize what a great target you make up there.

The president cannot do things like we usually do such as go shopping, go to the parks, six flags…
