How humans adapt to the environment

How humans modify the environment

How humans depend on the environment

There are three basic types of regions:

Formal regions (boundaries set by the government, like the Great Lakes)

Functional regions (areas defined by a function, like a newspaper service area. Basically, this means regions set by organizations)

Vernacular regions (areas loosely defined by people’s perception. The South, if you are living in the United States, refers to the Southern states, like Georgia and Tennessee. The South, if you are living in Ireland, could mean something totally different. Therefore, “The South” is an example of a vernacular region)
