Need help with this Algebra2 HW.?

I completely forgot how to solve it.

“All 28 members in Crestview High School’s Ski Club went on a one-day ski trip. Members can rent skis for $16 per day or snowboards for $19 per day. The club paid a total of $478 for rental equipment.

Write a system of equations that represents the number of members who rented the two types of equipment.

How many members rented skis and how many rented snowboards?”

PLEASE HELP

okay, so x will be skis and y will be snowboards.

x+y=28

16x+19y=487

y=28-x

so

16x+19(28-x)=487

16x+532-19x=487

-3x+532=487

-3x=-45

x=15…

15 people rented skis…

then plug in the 15 into your first equation

x+y=28

so

15+y=28

y= 13

15 people rented skis and 13 people rented snowboards.

x = # of people renting skis

y = # of people renting snowboards

16x + 19y = 478

x + y = 28

The key finding two relations ships between x and y. One relationship is how many total people there are. The other relationship is how much money they are able to spend, collectively.

16x + 19y = 478,

x+ y = 28

and then solve.
