Because Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat at the front of a bus to a white person, and she was arrested. Jo Ann Robinson decided to have a protest and boycot the buses. Her and many other African Americans simply stopped riding the bus. They walked everywhere; to school, to jobs, to stores, etc. Therefore, the transportation companies began loosing many customers and therefore loosing money. It is significant because it shows how much the African American community was determined to gain respect and not be discriminated for there color, and they were wiling to show that they would go to any lenghts to prove that.

Good Luck!!!!
