Math stuff?

Once again, I have not listened in class (as my previous question shows) and need help to do these math sheets. once I figure out how to do them, I can do the rest, but need the method. The first sheet says Calculate tan 0 (< but with a little dash, i think it means theta) for these triangles http://s184.photobucket.com/albums/x275/mttstbycal/th_math.jpg Once I know how to do it for that, I can do it for all the other ones, i'm not looking for the answer, just how to do it.

Tangent is equal to [(sine of an angle) / (cosine of an angle)]. If that doesn’t make sense, in that is the “opposite over the adjacent” in highschoolspeak. See length 8? It is “Opposite” of Theta. Divide it by length 4, which is “adjacent” to Theta. Congratulations. Your result should be 2, and your angle should be about 63 degrees.

8/4 is eight divided by four. btw,

in a triangle, all sides sum up to 180 degrees. a right angle is 90 degrees. find out how many degrees is 4cm and 8cm?

I don’t know the terms of these in English, so please excuse the “barbaric” explanation.

tan (angle) = opposite catheter/nearest catheter

(the catheters are the two shortest lines).

so tan(theta) = 8/4 = 2

TAN⊖ IS PERPENDICULAR/BASE

HENCE TAN⊖ = 8/4

= 2

HENCE THE VALUE OF THETA WILL BE TAN-1(2)

[READ IT AS TAN INVERSE 2]
