If Sally can paint a house in 4 hours, and John can paint the same house in 6 hour, how long will it take for both of them to paint the house together?

However, I’ll help you with the typical focus change.

If Sally can paint the house in 4 hours, how much of the house can she paint in *one* hour? (It’s a fraction.) Similarly, how much of the house can John paint in *one* hour?

Good so far. Now, in *one* hour, how much will they paint, working together (add those two fractions and simplify).

Finally, working at that combined rate you just got, how many hors will it take them to finish the house, assuming that they don’t waste any time painting each other, or complaining about their parents giving them such plain, old-textbook names instead of cool names like “Jordan” or “Krishell-Elaine”?
