a) y=mx+b

b= y-intersept

m=slope

so y=mx+4

then the line passes through coordinates (0,4) and (-2,0)

so then

slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

….slope=(0-4)/(-2-0)

….slope=(-4)/(-2)

….slope= 2

so the equation is…y=2x+4

b) slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

….slope=(5-3)/(-4-0)

….slope=(2)/(-4)

….slope= -1/2

since you need the slope of the perpendicular bisector, you find the reciprocal opposite of the slope, so it would be 2

then y=mx+b

so y=2x+b

then you plug in one of the values for x and y to find b…so

5=2(-4)+b

5=-8+b

13=b

so the equation is…y=2x+13
