A.23

B.27

C.38

D.41

A scale model of a new hotel was built for display . The scale used was 5 centimeters equals 3 meters. The scale model required 13,500 square centimeters of plastic for the outside surfaces of the hotel.

A. What will the area of the outside surfaces of the actual hotel be?

B. The volume of the scale model is 202,500 cubic centimeters. What will the volume of the actual hotel be?

Try plugging in the numbers:

23+(23*2)+([{23*2}+23]/2)=171

23+46+([46+23]/2)=171

69+(69/2)=171

69+34.5=171

103.5 DOESN’T EQUAL 171

27+(27*2)+([{27*2}+27]/2)=171

27+54+([54+27]/2)=171

81+(81/2)=171

81+40.5=171

121.5 DOESN’T EQUAL 171

38+(38*2)+([{38*2}+38]/2)=171

38+76+([76+38]/2)=171

114+(114/2)=171

114+57=171

171=171

THE ANSWER IS C.38

2.A scale model of a new hotel was built for display. The scale used was 5cm=3meters. The scale model required 13,500 square centimeters of plastic for the outsed surfaces of the hotel.

A.What will the area of the outside surfaces of the actual hotel be?

B.The volume of the scale model is 202,500 cubic centimeters. What will the volume of the actual hotel be?

A.3cm=3meters, so 1cm=1meter

13,500^2=x

182,250,000meters=x

or you can say 13,500meters^2

B.202,500^3=x

8,303,765,625,000,000meters=x

or you can say 202,500meters^3

Let no of CD in first rack be X.

Therefore, second rack is 2X

And third rack = (X + 2X) / 2 = 1.5X

Since total no. of CD = 171,

X + 2X + 1.5X = 171

4.5X = 171

X = 171 / 4.5

X = 38

Therefore, there are 38 CDs in the first rack

Area of the outside areas = 13500 / (5^2) = 540 square meters

Volume of the actual hotel = 202500 / (5^3) = 1620 cubic meters

Let X be fixed fees

Let Y be hourly fee

Only 2 equations need to be created

X + 3Y = 97 (1st equation)

X + 7Y = 205 (2nd equation)

(2nd equation minus 1st equation) gives

4Y = 108

Y = 27

To find X,

X + 3(27) = 97

X + 81 = 97

X = 97 – 81

X = 16

Therefore, Mandy’s fixed fee is $16 and hourly rate is $27

cos the third stack was the mean of 1st and 2nd.

there are 171/3=57 cds in the 3rd stack.

57/3*2=38. so the answer is C
