If a value increases arithmetically, it increases by adding, like 1,3,5,7,9.

If a value increases exponentially, it increases by multiplying, like 1,3,9,27….much faster.

10 to the second power (a little 2 just off the zero) is 10 x 10. The two is an exponent. 10 to the third would be 10 x 10 x 10.

A value that increases exponentially multiplies times itself. As the value can increase quickly with large numbers and a high exponent, the phrase “increases exponentially” has come to mean anything where a value- an investment, even ideas- come to a great fruition.

That means it increases at a high rate, like it increase at ten square= 10^2.

x^2, what it means that a number, x, is raised by a power. for example

2^2= 2*2=4

2^3=2*2*2=8
