Math homework help?

Okay, here is one of the questions I got for my math homework. I don’t get it.

Simplify:

m+m _____

That’s all. Doesn’t say what m equals or anything. Any help?

It’s an expression (an equation with no equal sign) and they just want to know the answer. Its basically saying m+m = ?.

And it’s 2m.

You’re supposed to add the 2 m’s together to get 2m.

Think of it this way, you have an apple, and you buy another apple.

You now have two apples. The m is the variable (or apple) and 2 is the quantity that you have of it.
