Math homework!?

ok, i need help with a math problem. i did it and i got an answer that doesn’t make sense to me so if someone else could do it and tell me what you get, i’d appreciate it.

I need to find the X-intercept of this. -4x + y – 1 = 0

i keep getting 1/4 but it doesn’t look right when i graph it!

to get x-intercept set y=0

so -4x+0-1 = 0

x= -1/4

-1/4 is the answer; be forewarned: the answers to these kinds of graphing questions will not always be whole numbers. When you graph it, use -1, -3/4, -1/2, -1/4, 0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 as the points on both x and y axes, and see if the line makes more sense to you.

try and chart it first. do it for -3, -1, 0 ,1 ,3 and see if the answers you get make sense.
