math help >< slope!?

one of da questions says..

estimate the slope of the line

nd dey give me a graph with points

but since i cant draw on here

ill jus name the coordinates

they are ( 3, 0 ) and ( 0 , -1 )

how do u find da slope when they give u a graph?

The change in y over the change in x.

0 – (-1) = 1

3 – 0 = 3

1/3 = your slope.

Should be going up one and to the right three.

1) plot those points on the graph. The slope is how far you have to go down(y) over how far you have to go over on the x line to get from one point to the other

2) Draw a right angle and count. The line will be negative if it is higher on the left then the right. If it is higher on the right it is positive, Again, if it starts low on the left and goes up to the right, then it is positive. Hard to explain.

3) Slope is the change in y divided by the change in x.

(3,0),(0,-1)

you take the y-coordinates of each point 0 and -1 and add them making 0+-1= -1 then take the x coordinates and add them 3+0=3 making a slope of -1/3….this is a simple math problem….its Y2+Y1/X2+X1= Rise/Run (Slope)
