How do you find (f?h)(3) if f(x)={(3,5),(2,4),(1,7)} and h(x)={(3,2),(4,3),(1,6)}?

I’m also confused about what ? is supposed to do

I am confused about the ? as well. Maybe it’s a typo.

If it’s a handout that your teacher gave you, then it’s probably a typo.

Maybe it’s supposed to be composition. Usually that is represented by a little o.

(foh)(3) = f(h(3)) = f(2) = 4.

Here’s where I got my numbers.

The 3 is given in the problem.

Next I looked at what 3 was paired with in h(x). It was paired with a 2.

Then I looked at what 2 was paired with in f(x). 2 was paired with 4.

I looked at the first number in the pair because that represents the input number. The second number is the output.
