Multiply both sides by 4/3:

(7/8)(4/3) = m

-simplify-

7/6 = m

Yeah I understand I go blank sometimes too.

Well first you have the problem:

7/8=3/4m

And then buy multiplying everything by 8 you can cancel out the fractions.

8(7/8)=8(3/4m)

7 = 6m

7/6 = m

Then you plug it back in to check.

7/8=3/4 (7/6)

7/8=21/24

reduce

7/8=7/8

first you must group your like variables; i.e. isolate the m from the whole numbers.

so, 7/8=3/4m

becomes

(7/8) / (3/4) = m

because you must divide the right side of the equation by 3/4 to isolate the variable and anything you do to one side of an equation you must do to the other so you must divide 7/8 by 3/4.

now you have to divide fractions so you

Invert (i.e. turn over) the denominator fraction and multiply the fractions

Multiply the numerators of the fractions

Multiply the denominators of the fractions

Place the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators

Simplify the Fraction

8/7 * 3/4 = m

27/28 = m

1’m not quite sure but i’ll try…

7/8=3/4m

Cancel out 4 on 3/4m so multiply 4 on both sides

4(7/8)=4(3/4)m

so 28/8=3m

Cancel out 3 so divide 3 on both sides

(28/8)/3=3m/3

so (28/8)/3=m

therefore, m=1 1/6 or 1.166666667

ocgenesisoc has the best answer finally someone that believes in checking her work.

but you might want to go ahead and reduce the fraction just in case your treacher is having a bad day and is being picky.

do it like this:

7/6 = m or 1 1/6 = m That way you are covered both ways.
