Math help!?

Math help!?

Me and my freind cant figure this out.. So can you help me..?

Well you have to do the problem in a certain order–

This is the order-

Parathensis

Exponets– which there are none

Multiplication

Divide

Add

Subtraction

And this is the problem–

126 – 9 divided by 3 times 28

I checked it if i read it wrong and it is the same!!

Wat is the answer and can you show me the steps!!

126 – 9 / 3 x 28

The order of operations, PEDMAS (please excuse my dear aunt sally).

So first, parentheses. There aren’t any in this problem so we move on to exponents. There aren’t any exponents either.

Next, multiplication and division. These are done in the same step moving from left to right in the equation or expression.

In the problem, 9 / 3 is the first multiplication or division we come across. 9 / 3 = 3. Now multiply this by 28. You get 84.

Now your expression reads 126 – 84.

The next step is addition and subtraction. Again, these are in the same step and should be done from left to right.

126 – 84 = 42.

I hope this helps.

And I’m just wondering, are there any parentheses in there? It would make a lot more sense, but whatever.

well first of all. when you have both multiplication and division you do them as they come in order of the problem so…

126-9/3+28

first you divide -9/3 and that = -3.

126-3*28

then you multiply -3*28= -84

126-84

then subtract. your answer is 42.

I hope this helps!! and by the way… some of those answers are off. you dont multiply 1st. just to let you no. multiplication and division come in order of the problem. the same is true with addition and subtraction.

I teach that to my 3rd graders. In order to remember the order of operations, I tell them to remember this sentence, “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.” Of course you know what the first letter of each word stands for… P- Parenthesis, E- Exponents, etc.

So to do your problem, you would first have to do 3 x 28. After you get that answer, you would divide it by 9. When you get that answer you would subtract it from 126.

I hope this helps. I didn’t want to give you the answer outright. I figured you needed to do the work yourself.

Good luck.

Is the problem written exactly as you have typed it? If it is, this is the answer:

There are no parenthesis or exponets, so ignore those two.

Multiply first: 3×28 = 84

Giving: 126 – 9 divided by 84

Now divide: 9/84 = 0.107

Giving 126 – 0.107 = 125.9
