I have a problem! Please help!?

I have an assignment that many people will think is very easy, I have to make a “Me Bag”… Here’s the deal — The me bag has to have 10 things in it that represent something about me.

Example: Say, if I like to run (which I really don’t), I would put a runner’s shoe in my bag.

Okay… The thing about it is, I would probably write things about me that I like or like doing, and then come up with objects to represent them, but, the problem is, I really hate myself. I’ve been battling depression for a long time, and although I am getting better very slowly, I still hate myself. Can you give me some ideas of what I could do?

I’m so worried I won’t get it done… I know it sounds easy, but it’s so hard for me to think of anything good about myself. Thank you so much.

I understand the problem. I suspect you were given this assignment BECAUSE you don’t like yourself!

Start simple.

Is there SOMETHING you do well?

Math? (Tear a page out of the math book and pretend that was a clever thing to do.)

Cook? (Bring a piece of cooked something or other.)

Play nice with your cat? (Bring a cat’s toy.)

Wash your dad’s car? (Bring the car sponge.)

Hide your feelings behind a smile? (Put your face in the Me bag and push the bag against your face like you got the smile out of the bag.)

Lie, like when someone say How’re you doin’? And you say fine, but you do it convincingly? (I don’t know how you demonstrate this.)

Tell stupid jokes? (Show plastic lips and teeth.)

Make model birdsnests? Show a model birdsnest.

Decorate the Christmas tree? (Bring a favorite tree decoration.)

Sweep the living room when asked? (so it’s really clean – bring a “dust bunny”)

Pop your zits till your face looks good? (Maybe show before and after photos)

Clip your nails very neatly? Wouldn’t fingernails or toenails in the Me bag look cool?

Use whatever you wrote down already to inspire more thoughts along the same lines. Don’t invent anything.

Maybe you give good hugs to your mom? (Bring a donut.)

Maybe you fold your bedsheets well in the morning? (Bring a CLEAN pillowcase.)

Bring the craziest proof of your “talent”. You’ll do fine.

I’m so sorry for the way you feel. I don’t mean to trivialize you or your feelings in trying to help you with the assignment but the first thing that comes to mind is what do you hate about yourself? Can you think of things you hate? Like do you have big feet? Or are you stubborn? Or do you like to eat too much ice cream? How about putting things in the bag that make you feel that hate. What makes you feel unloveable? Can you think of things? This bag may contain some very personal items and perhaps reveal more than you’d like it to. Can you modify it a little if that’s the case? I’m assuming this assignment is for a class in school and one thing you can keep in mind is that it doesn’t have to be totally truthful, I would think. The idea is to get the items together and have them represent you to the teacher in a meaningful and unique way. Can you use things from around your home that are yours and show something about your lifestyle or your taste? Do you have any objects that are along the lines of souvenirs? Or momentos?

I hope you are receiving help for your depression and that you recover soon.

In your case why don’t you change the assignment and put things into the bag that you would LIKE to do. Perhaps by doing this type of assignment you will learn things about yourself. Think of what you would like to do if you were not depressed, Who know this might actually help you fight your depression.

Well, everyone hates themselves in some ways. So don’t worry about it. The “Me Bag” Thing. Just look at yourself sit down and what defines you? The things you like to do? Do you like to write or draw? Put in a pencil for creativity, do you like to play on the computer? Then detach your mouse or keyboard and put it in the bag to show your intrest in technology. Just have fun with it. Just simply put things in it that you think define you. Everyone has something. So ten things shouldn’t be that hard. Just look at your intrests and how you are. Just take time and think about it. Put your favorite music on listen to it and allow it to help you think. Instead of dewelling on the issue just let the music help. It’ll get your mind of it directly.

Why not look “into” yourself?

For example, you can put pictures of yourself when you were little or younger, a family picture or a family get together picture.

Some things belonging to yourself over the years when you were growing up, like artworks, diaries, your favorite old clothes, your favorite CDs, your favorite mugs etc etc, try to put together into your Me Bag things that gives you good memeories, moments that you cherish for example.

There . . . . look around your room, your house for these things. Keep an open mind and bearing in mind you are looking for things that gives you moments that you cherish, I’m sure if you start looking, you will find many many little things around the house.

You like books – Copy of book

You like animals – picture of animals

even in a state of depression. there is bound to be somethings you enjoy. Just list those things, regardless of any negative feelings which may accompany them.

He could try a distinctive style of shaving gel, a number of them are designed to help soften up the stubble. of direction it is often for the shave itself. over the years i could think of your dermis will grow for use to the abrasive nature of his chin. A lotion on your dermis in the past making out could help additionally. perhaps he could desire to strengthen a goatee or a beard. long facial hair does tend to be softer.

put your favorite book in, a childhood item (a teddy/ blanket)

a favorite clothing item, that will get you started. then ask for help from friends and family, they probably see the good in you even if it’s hard for you to see.
