Secondly, think of what everyone else is going to write. Then don’t write it. For instance, the question says to write home. Most people will write:

Its much better here

I miss you all

I miss home

I hope everything gets better

etc.

These things ARE BORING. Why not write a passionate, angry letter and address it to government leaders who are causing/ failing to fix the situation? Why not write to your husband/wife informing him/her that you have taken your child with you because you didnt trust them to keep them safe?

And mix texts! Why not add something like… “I have added in some photos” or “Here is a newspaper clipping showing that the government here is going to intervene over there”.

Finally, don’t underestimate the power of sappy sentimentalism. Be EMOTIONAL. Love, Hate, Anger, Fear… cram it all in there. When the judges ask you how you wrote such a powerful piece… say that the situation is something you have always been pattionate about 😉

Mention how much you miss every1 at home.

Also mention your personal emotions and stuff like that.

Put lots of description but make sure the description does NOT go on forever otherwise it will be BORING!

Also mention why u are fleeing the country.

Dont forget to write the date the letter was written. (Not the date you personally wrote it but the date the character wrote)
