Is this an example of Imagery…?

“Standing perfectly still like, that I discovered my shadow… It had short legs and long arms, a dark coiled braid just like mine. When I shook my head it shook its head. We flapped our arms. We raised one leg. I turned to walk away and it followed me. I turned back around quickly and it faced me.”

Yes, it is. You are appealing to the sense of sight. Your reader will be able to “see” this image. You could also expand on you description by adding a few more details: short image or tall; shoulder length braid or one that coiled like a snake down your back….Get the picture?

As to you additional information, you can appeal to the sense of smell by describing the odors of the battlefield, or the feel of the weapons (Armour?) and such.

It is a good narrative (and personification), but imagery in literature is more sense-based.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagery <- quite helpful. Use the five senses. You used sight, but the other four aren't there. On another note, "standing perfectly still" is fine. "Like" is extra, not needed. edit: I only saw the first one.
