In the beginning of both the book and movie, there is a blind prophet that makes a prophecy about what they are looking for and what they will actually find. In both the main character, Odysseus, is trying to get back to his wife. In the movie, he broke out of prison to get back to his wife, who had accepted a suitor. In the book, the wife was trying to trick the suitors, waiting for her husband to come home. In both the main character was ‘silver tongued’. In the movie, the wife’s name was named Penny, a play on the book’s wife, Penelope. In both there are sirens, but in the movie Odysseus was seduced and in the book he wasn’t, b/c he made his crew tie him to the mast of the ship. In both there was a cyclops, but in the book they blinded him and escaped, and in the movie they got their butts kicked. In both the main character was eventually reunited with his wife.
