The rule in subtracting signed numbers is “change the sign of the subtrahend and proceed to algebraic addition”. In this case, the subtrhend is -1, changing the sign it becomes +1, then proceed to addition. Although 6 has no sign, it is understood to be positive, hence

+6+1 = +7 or 7

ok, if you subtract a negative number, that is the same as adding a positive which makes it 6+1

if i read it right it is 6 minus negative one which in turn makes it 6 plus one. Neg gneg equals positive.

6 – (-1) = 7

Since there are two negative sciences, when you multiply them, it becomes positive, so 6 + 1 = 7
