Just a few thoughts ….

Despite her many problems in her personal life, and her own shortcomings, she made people more aware of many issues of poverty in developing countries. She also brought the issue of land mines to the forefront. She showed us that no one, no matter how poor or diseased, is untouchable.

The thing you have to think about when doing this project, is that MASS media is different to normal Media. There is a thing called the effects theory, that states that people will react as receptacles to the things that they see on tv and in the media. This is where mass media comes in, because the word mass assumes that it is a type of media that EFFECTs the masses. For instance, one theory would be that if you see violence on tv it will effect you in your normal life in a way that could make you a criminal. I think that it was not lady di that influenced mass media, but the way that lady di was turned into a symbol by the media in a way that played on the emotions of a nation. In other words I think that the media used an image of Di, that did not truely show Diana the person, but showed instead the SYMBOL that they wanted Diana to stand for. By making her a martyr they used people’s emotions to draw them in and in this way sold more papers/got more viewers etc.

Shape. The propagation of stories in little bites makes peoples’ perceptions of the sector and their interactions with it extraordinary. By making the infrequent look ordinary, they difference the way in which we feel. An illustration: youngsters are virtually not ever abducted besides by means of their possess loved ones individuals. This is good-documented however opposite to public belief. Another illustration: within the nineties, there used to be an “attack weapon ban” handed in Congress, to scale down the quantity of crimes dedicated making use of computerized guns. Since computerized guns have been tightly regulated by means of a legislation that is been at the books on the grounds that the thirties, there may be not ever been even one example within the complete nation of a legally owned computerized firearm being utilized in a criminal offense. But the nation acted on a perceived want generated fully by means of the media and no longer supported by means of a unmarried truth. There’s additionally the copycat phenomenon. Note how traits and models, no longer handiest the visible ones but in addition much less fascinating ones (carjacking involves brain) blossom while in general pronounced.
