If P(7, 9) is a point on: y = -3f(x – 4) + 9,

then the following is true:

-3f(7 – 4) + 9 = 9

=> -3f(3) + 9 = 9

Now we have to solve for f(3), (you’ll see why later)

-3f(3) + 9 = 9

=> -3f(3) = 0

=> f(3) = 0

Recall: y = f(x)

(In this case, when y = 0, x = 3)

Therefore, the “corresponding” point on the graph of

y = -3f(x – 4) + 9 is:

(3, 0).
