I really need help on this math problem i dont get ?
1 and 1/4 = A + 3/8
im suppose to solve that .. pls help
Favorite Answer
1)Convert 1 and 1/4 to an improper fraction (5/4)
2) Convert 5/4 into ?/8, by multiplying both numerator and denominator by the appropriate number to make that conversion work
After that the solution should be more obvious.
5/4 = a + 3/8
10/8 = a + 3/8
you must now minus 3/8 from both sides, which leaves you with a = 7/8
Subtract 3/8 from 10/8
A = 7/8
I’ll show you how to solve the proble for future reference.
1) First write the problem:
1 1/4 = A + 3/8
2) The I change both fractions into decimals which would be:
1.25 = A + 0.375
3) Now your subtract 0.375 from 0.375. Cross that out. Now you are left with “A.” What you do to one side you got to do it to the other side since I subtracted, you subtract 0.375 from 1.25.
1.250 = A + 0.375 *xxxcross out 0.375xxx*
-0.375 = A + 0.375 *xxxcross out 0.375xxx*
——— = A xxxxx
4) Solve!
1.250 = A
-0.375 = A
———
0.875 = A or 7/8 =A
Hope This Helps
