What’s up people!!

how do you write in slope intercept form?

I remember using the slope intercept form, but can’t remember how it works. Can someone please help me remember? For example, how would I write x-y=50 in slope intercept form? After writing it how would I put it on a graph? Please help!!!

For slope-intercept form you need to get Y alone on one side.

x-y=50

-x -x

-y=-x+50

divide by -1

y=x-50

Forst you subtract x then you still have negative y. So then you have to divide by negative 1 to get y alone.

y=x-50

x is your slope. -50 is the y intercept, so when making a graph you will plot the point (0,-50). Then your slope is 1. Make this into a fraction which is 1/1. So you go up one and over to the right one. The slope is rise over run. The top number is how many you go up and the bottom number is how many to the right you go.

the y intercept form is y=mx+b.

m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

So it would be y=x-50.

you would subtract the x and put it on the other side: -y=-x+50.

But since you don’ want negative variables, you would times the whole thing by a negative one to make the variables positive. -1(-y=-x+50) which equals y=x-50.

To graph, the y intercept is -50, so go down to -50 and plot a point at (0,-50). Then use the slope (which is one) to go up one and over one (rise over run). Connect the dots and you should get a straight line.

Hope that helps.

Equation of a Line – Slope-Intercept Form is written as

y=mx+b

where m is the slope and b is the point at which the line crosses the y-axis (y-intercept).

solve for y in terms of x

y=x-50

the slope is the coefficient of x, here the coefficient is +1, the slope is +1.

to graph… -50 is the y-intercept, meaning the line intesects the y-axis at -50. so you can start there… you move one unit upward and one unit to the right for the second point. connect and you have the graph.

y=mx+b

y=x-50

50 is your y-intercept…then go up 1 then over 1
