1 The nature of science is tentative because any conclusion is always subject to adjustment pending the discovery of new evidence. for example, Newtonian physics worked well to describe the motions of the planets, but was less than ideal for the description of the behavior of subatomic particles. This required that the notion of one set of physical laws for all matter, regardless of scale, be adjusted to include the new data.
2.
a) Experimental observations.
b) Falsifiability. If an experimental result can be demonstrated to be of a nature which could be falsified by other means, the conclusion based on that evidence must be suspect.
c) Contamination of experimental protocols. The presence of a factor in an experimental control that is not previously identified. For example, the orbit of Venus was thought to be a major flaw in the application of Newtonian physics due to an orbital wobble until the existence of Mercury was proved.
Hope these help.
