There is something wrong with this equation. It can not be solved, since you have X on both sides.

okay so you have

6(x+7)-20=6x

(6x+42)-20=6x

the next thign to do is to move the 6x on the left to the right, so the it becomes a negative 6x.

42-20=6x-6x

22=0

So this equation is wrong go strangle your teacher.

Have fun!

Don’t subtract the 6x on the right of the equal sign, subtract the one on the left.

42=0

something’s wrong

write “no answer” or something

6(x+7)-20=6x

6x + 42 -20=6x

6x+22=6x

22=0

I think that you have written the problem down wrong, or the text book is wrong.

in this case, then, there is no answer

but maybe you should double check your question, to make sure you’re not missing any negative signs

If not, then the question has no answer because you end up with 42-20=0 which is a false statement!

This statement is a fallacy of sorts. When you are able to eliminate the x’s, the correct answer is no solution. There is no value of x which can make that equation correct.

You want to get X on one side. But this equation can’t be done, hence a False Statement.

if you wrote the equation correctly than this is a false statement and would be no solution.
