as with the crusades that predeced the invasion of north america – europe was starving and disease ridden – that was the motivator – unlike the moors who were well equipped to stop the invasion the indians were ill equipped to stop the invasion. Religions often were twisted to suit the europeans whom ‘ god had blessed’ or ‘ chosen ‘ this ranged from the invasion of south america by the portugese and spanish to the invasion and conquest of canada and america by the french and english. Political freedoms ? The quakers were rejects from europe and england – unwanted and spurned as trouble makers and so went to the americas. Dont call it an invasion on your paper but that is what it was. As the land was ‘ colonized ‘ further inland of course the natives would resist.

Britain and Spain wanted gold and other goods (economic). The pilgrims, quakers, etc. wanted to be free from Britain’s oppression so Britain let them go (religious, social, political). After all what better way to get rid of someone you don’t want in your country than to have them leave of their own free will.
