this means that there is not one person on the team who can do it by themselves. if there is a team there must be teamwork and one person can not be the ruler. when on a team you can’t be worrying about yourself, you must care about what is going on with the team.

you can’t really pinpoint it down to one person. sports coaches and parents and everyone else in the world have been using this expression for a long time.

Actually in an odd sort of way – you asking this question here emphasizes the meaning – think about that when you anwser.

Granted – that was probably not your intent – but by asking the collective team for an answer you’ve discovered at least one of the meanings (I’ve always thought it meant a couple of things)

Any answer you (single i) could provide pales in comparison to what a group of individuals (lots of i’s = team) focused on the same goal can achieve.

I liked Gromet’s answer! You can see what “team” is all about. In this case, the Y!A team is telling you it’s better for you to do your own work and not to cheat!

This is your assignment to write what it means TO YOU. I guarantee you that your teacher doesn’t want you to hand in what someone else has written. He/she wants YOUR opinion and YOUR work. If you need help understanding the assignment, please use ADD DETAILS and be specific.

As for who said it — go to google.com and use “there is no I in team” as your search string.
