Final exams are at the end of the year. That means students have an ENTIRE YEAR to learn, study, do homework, ask questions, practice, do extra credit, etc. If a student goes to class every day, does the homework, participates in class, does extra credit, asks for help, AND UNDERSTANDS the topics discussed throughout the whole year, then they should have nothing to worry about. The key is that students have to UNDERSTAND. If a student just “gets by” throughout the year and doesn’t truly understand the subjects, they are doing themselves a diservice. If you get A’s on all your homework, all your tests, all your projects– that means you know what you’re doing. The Final Exam should not stress you out because you know that stuff already. If you aren’t a great student and aren’t naturally able to understand everything easily, then it is important to put in some extra effort by getting a tutor, talking to your teacher, doing some extra problems each night, etc…
But, it would depend a LOT on how prepared you were, wouldn’t it?
If you wait until the week before, you’re going to stress yourself into a frenzy; if you keep up all through the class, go over your work and understand where you went wrong in assignments and tests, and feel comfortable with the material, you’ll feel less stressy.
There’s also simply not caring how you do. That would take the stress away.
Then there’s physical stuff such as eating healthily, getting sufficient sleep.
Taking the day off before the test is a good thing to do. Do all the prep you can, then do something relaxing the day before, so you’re fresh for the test.
Instead of starting the test at 8:00 am maybe start it later like 10:00 am or noon
Every student has to dress as comfortable as they want to (within reason)
The test can be taken in other places besides the classroom – cafeteria, outside, in the gym on big pillows
Hope this helps.
