I like to play car games on the way to Texas. Would “to play car games on the way” be the infinitive phrase?
i’m working on this project, and i dont know if “to play car games” or “to play car games on the way” is the infinitive phrase. Thanks soo much and i need this answer ASAP!!!

I think it’s “to play car games” because “on the way” is just a description of where/when you’re playing the games. It might even just be “to play games” in the car on the way to Texas.

To play is the infinitive. Car games modifies the infinitive phrase. On the way is a prepositional phrase, as is to Texas. The difference is, the infinitive contains the word “to” followed by a verb. “To Texas” starts with “to”, but the word following is a noun. That makes “to” a preposition instead of an infinitive. Everything after “to play” just explains what you like to play. An infinitive just shows the action, it doesn’t explain the action. Trust me.
