i have to solve the equation algebraically 3x/4+1=1/2(4x-8)?
Favorite Answer
ok u can ignore the first side for now, just work on the second side
1/2(4x-8)
2x-4
3x/4+1=2x-4
if i were u i would subtract the 1 from the first adn second side. 1-1=0, (-4)-1= -5
3x/4=2x-5
hmmm… then multiply everything by 4
3x=8x-20
subtract 8x from both sides
-5x=-20
then divide -20 by -5
-20/-5
x=4
then plug it back it to check your work!
3/4 x + 1 = 1/2 (4x) – 1/2 (8)
3/4 x + 1 = 2 x – 4
then get the x’s on one side…
3/4 x +1 -3/4 x= 2x – 4 – 3/4 x
1 = (2-3/4) x -4
get x’s by themselves…
1 + 4 = (2-3/4)x -4 +4
5 = (8/4 -3/4)x
5 = 5/4 x
solve for x
5 * 4/5 = 5/4 x * 4/5
x = 4
3x/4+1=1/2(4x-8)
First, start by distributing the right hand side.
(3x/4) + 1 = 2x-4
Then, subtract 1 from both sides
3x/4 = 2x-5
Next, multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of the fraction of the left side.
3x=8x-20
Now, bring the like terms over to one side each by subtracting 8x from the right side.
-5x=-20
Divide both sides by -5 to get x by itself.
x= 20/5
or
x=4
If you need clarification on any step, let me know
3x/4 + 1 = 2x – 4
3x/4 – 2x = -4-1
-5x/4 = -5
-5x = -20
x = 4
