Queen Powerpuff [thinks ur cute]

I have an Algebra II test tomorrow and I don’t understand graphing linear equalities and Piecewise functions!?

He’s been going over it for about 2 days which was Friday and Today but I don’t get it at all. I understand it when he [My teacher] explains it but then when I get home my mind draws a blank and the same on the test! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN IT TO ME PLEASE!!?? First of all he wants us to graph with 2 variables…I don’t understand one variable! Then these piecewise functions are sort of easy but I just can’t keep it in my head! PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT TO ME AS BEST AS YOU CAN ALL ANSWERS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I’ve been studying for hours and its not sticking….IF YOU CAN’T EXPLAIN IT ANY GOOD WEBSITES ARE FINE TOO! ThANKS EVERYONE!

It’s simple. First, graph the linear equation associated with the inequality (for instance y > x – 5, graph the line y = x-5). Each of the sides divided by the line is what is called a half-plane. Then look for a point not on that line (0, 0) and substitute it for x and y respectively. If the inequality makes sense, then shade the half-plane containing (0,0) otherwise shade the other side. In this case after substituting, 0 > -5 so the inequality is true and you shade the half-plane containing (0,0).

Please be careful though. If it says y > x – 5 (y is greater than x-5), then you must draw a broken line to indicate that the points on that line are NOT part of the inequality. If it says y >= x – 5 (or y is greater than or equal to x -5), then you must draw a solid line to indicate that the points on that line are part of the inequality.

Graph the standards (-2, 2) and (0,-4) and locate the slope. You get the (x) from what’s interior the f(regardless of) and the y is after the =. desire that helped. i’m in basic terms gaining know-how of it myself! digital mail me for added help. Th slope is -3 by ability of ways.
